The H.D.S.U. is a non-profit union of Greek Dancesport associations dedicated to the promotion and development of Dancesport in Greece. The Board of Directors serves on a volunteer basis. While professional accountants or lawyers might be hired for specific tasks, the leadership consists of individuals motivated by a passion for dance rather than a paycheck.

Core Directives

  1. Purpose: To foster cooperation among member associations to promote sports dance as both a sport and a social event.

  2. Mission: To be a modern, transparent, and accountable organization that provides members with support, training, and assistance.

  3. The Core Idea: Increasing public visibility, awareness, and appreciation of Dancesport (competitive ballroom and Latin dancing) as a serious athletic endeavor.
  4. "Union of Associations" Standardization
  • A dance school in Patras might teach the Waltz differently than a school in Volos. As the Union, the H.D.S.U. creates a Unified Rulebook. This ensures that when students from both schools compete, they are judged by the same standards and rules (e.g., following WDSF international standards).
